you can probably start now. you've been taking dance classes long enough to start pointe. good luck!

i took dance lessons for about 10 years before i began my TRAINING for pointe shoes. the training took about a year and then it takes about a year to get used to the pointe shoes. be careful they make your feet bleed

Ask your instructor cause they know when you are ready for them! But i think you are ready for them! Good luck!

At 9, the bones in your feet aren't fully formed, and going en pointe now can permanently injure you. Wait until your teacher says you're ready!

If you're 9, you have not been dancing for 8 years. Even if you took a 'movement' class then, you don't start counting the years you've been dancing before you were taking REAL (not beginner) structured classes. Sorry, but it annoys me when people say they've been dancing since they were 2 or something.

Woah Dolly! You don't sound ready for pointe yet! Most dancers get on pointe when they are twelve years old at the youngest. Keep working though! You are off to a great start!

Please don't even try yet!! You aren't old enough. I know its hard to wait, but I'm almost 14, and I started pointe when I was 12. It is important to make sure your bones and ankles are strong enough. I just want to make sure you don't hurt yourself, because there is this girl I know who started pointe when she was 8 and she wasn't strong enough. She couldn't get all the way up, and came in to school a week later on crutches. People always say that its dangerous to dance on pointe, but that is only if you aren't ready. Just please wait until your teacher thinks you are ready because its not worth injuring yourself badly because you're not ready.

sorry hun but the bones in your toes aren't completely formed yet... but they should be by the time you're 13. trust me, you don't want to start pointe before your bones and joints are fully developed in your feet. because of the pressure put on your feet from pointe, they could develop the wrong way and then you'll have some major problems and deformalities. just wait a little longer.

You are a little young, most usually start at 12/13 at the youngest. You're teacher will let you know when you are ready.

you probably aren't quite ready due to your age.of course first talk to your mistress she knows you the best.teachers know their students better then students know themselves!i know myself that toe shoes are hard and will be very painful, and i started when i was eleven.and for weeks all i did was training for barre stretches on my shoes.give yourself time.sometimes the best thing you can do is give yourself more time even if you might be ready.how bout this, spend a month and do strengthening exercises and lots of conditioning and technique classes.and i guarantee you that you will be happy you took it slow.in another month you will be way more prepared than you ever imagined.never stop trying, i wish you the best of luck!!!! :^)

you have to be at least 16 so your feet bones are strong enough. you may ruin them other wise. the earlier you start preparation the better. I'm 13 and have been dancing ballet for 10 years and i'm not yet allowed to do it. Wait a few years then you will have your day of fame on pointe!

Where my daughters dance, no one is allowed to go onto pointe until they are atleast 12 years old, this is because the growth plates in the feet must be closed. In other words, your feet must be close to being finished growing. If pointe is started before the plates are closed, you could seriously damage your spine and hips. Keep taking ballet classes for technique, and you will get there when your teacher believes you are ready.
