Position:Home>Dancing> I need MAJOR help with ballet/lyrical?

Question:I really, REALLY want to take ballet or lyrical ato strengthen my heel cords, but I can't. You see, I had surgery on my heelcords and I can't plie because of the scar tissue wrapped around my heelcords. And the major thing is that plieing is all you do in ballet and some in lyrical, but I can only bend my knees to where there's an inch in the diamond I am supposed to make.

So here's the question:
How can I improve my heelcords or find a class that understands my disability?

btw I am in jazz class which is why I need to strengthen my foundation.

Ballet is the foundation of all dance, and the begginers class is very easy . :)
They don't run you very hard, :) Ballet is good for people with disabilities. :)
It helps the problem. :)
It makes good therepy. :)
You should check your local telephone book for ballet lessons. :)
Just flip to the D section until you see Dance. :)
Then just visit their websites. :)
Happy Dancing!!! Don't give up!!! You can do it!!!

it depends on what your doctor says.
My bestfriend has a slight defect on her
spinal cord and on a nerve that reches down her right thigh.
we are both in colorguard, and when she found out her doctor said she couldn't do back hand springs or splits, kicks, plies,
bridges or leaps, due to chronic psyatica (I totally spelled that wrong). But her doctor also said if she worked it, she would beable to get her leg to function properly. so she kept working on her muscles and nerves by stretching them.
now she does her scorpions and bridges better than me
: )

ask your doctor if you can before stretching

See a physical therapist. I have had multiple tendon problems (a doubt its the same kind of thing as what youve got), but physical therapy has really helped me. They know just how to help people with that kind of stuff. Look one up online or in the phone book.

i do ballet and lyrical so i can help well in ballet plies is not all u do but i would wait until your scar gets better or u wont ever be able to dance again trust me i have done it many times jus wait 4 it to heel and then u should be good to go!!!
