Position:Home>Dancing> About to begin ballet after six years.....?

Question:I am about to start ballet again after a six year lay-up. Any hints to make it easier, or to help for sore muscles? The last time I danced was in 5th grade. I was going to move up a class, but the time for which it was schedualed conflicted with my mother's work, so I had to drop dancing. Then I moved to NJ, and we just got around to signing me up. I realise that any hopes of dancing professionally are pretty much down the drain (I'm 16), but thats okay, because I dance for the fun of it. So any ideas?

I would suggest you take as many classes you can stand and see if your talent is up to the task. You may need to ease into it though. Remember to stretch before AND after....eat right and take Tylenol as you need it. You have the right attitude - I really like that. Remember, pain can make you stronger. I wish you luck - I really do.

Do a Google/Yahoo search for "ballet+stretching," because stretching is definitely what you'll want to do a lot of after not having done it for some time.

You'll want to work into doing it in progression. You won't want to overdo and get burned out and most of all SORE!
