Position:Home>Dancing> My daughter keeps traveling on her fouettes how can she control them?

Question:If you put too much energy in the rond de jambe, leg circle, to motivate the continuing turns, you will travel. She should try to use her spot, and her arm to make the turn happen. Neither of these movements have the strength to move the body, like the leg movement does. She has to have the strength in her foot to simply releve and lower, without cheating with a hop, motivated by the whip of the rond de jambe. No transfer of momentum to cheat the releve.

she must keep her center muscles tight at all times. And spot something that is eye level with her.

What is a fouette? I couldn't fing it in the dictionary.

core muscle strength is a MUST. no core strength, no turn. spotting is another thing that can ruin a good turn. make sure to have a stationary spot, and make sure her head is the first thing that comes around in the turn every time. turn out will also help, making sure it is from the hip, not the knee or ankle. make sure her carriage is strong, strong arms and sholders are an asset to a good turn. make sure that she isn't hopping through them as well, that will force her to travel.

hope i helped.

hold your center, spot, breathe :]
