Am I too young to start ballet at age 12?

Question:I have absolutely NO experiance with ballet. I am pretty flexable, but I am afraid that when I get there I will be with 5 year olds, it will be embarassing... Please Answer!

Nope, they'll definitely put you in a class full of people your age.
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't stick you to a 5 year old class :]
You're never too late to start ballet. [Only if you're older than 40, i guess] but that's not the point haha
12 is a perfect age to start, right before high school.
Go for it, if you know you can do it and if you're pretty flexible, don't let anything stop you!

Go for it! I was ~8 yrs old when I was in ballet.

You're never too young for anything.
I was like 15 when I learned how to swim, it was a fear I had to get over but I did so yeah.
And even if you're in a class with five year olds it's not that embarrassing, it's not like there are people staring at you through windows laughing.
Just go for it.

choose a class which has people around your age in it. or talk to your dance teacher about it.

Not at all! Many children start dance classes at a very young age, and they turn out to be great dancers.

You are definitely not too young.

You are at a great age to start ballet. Check with studios in your area. Some may have a beginner class for older girls or they may just start you in a higher level because you are older. Even if you are with girls several years younger (possibly 7 or 8 year olds) for a while, you will progress much more quickly because your body is stronger and more mature. Try not to get embarassed and just focus on progressing to the next level.

FYI: The owner of the ballet school my girls dance at began ballet at age 13. Years later she became a professional and has danced all over the world. You are a great age to start!

Most kids go onto pointe at 11 or 12, and most begin Ballet when they are 11 or 12, and no you wont be with any 5 year olds.The Ballet instructor will place you in an apporiate class level. :)
Ballet is the foundation of all dance. :)
It has inspired Girl's worldwide, and has been loved by many for centuries. :)
Ballet is good for streching and will teach you displine and poise. :)
You will be able to express emotions and the beauty of the art of Ballet. :)
Girls are in love with Ballet, for it's classical art and fun. :)

my jazz dance teacher started ballet wen she was 3 years old. so yea its never to young to learn anyting
