Position:Home>Dancing> How old were you when you started dancing? How good are you now?

Question:I'm 27 years old and just recently started lessons. I feel kind of old in dancing terms. I'm wondering if I still have a chance of becoming really good before my joints start hurting? :)

You can definately learn a lot and really get some great exercise, even starting at a nontraditional age. I started dancing when I was 3, and later added gymnastics. I'm certainly no Pavlova, but at 25, I can still keep up with a difficult class and I've been lucky to do a lot of performing and teaching with various companies.

Uh, Chopper...that guy in the video is black and he sucks...

well well, la di da!

sounds good, go for it. as long as your in shape, nothing wrong with it.

just don't let some guy dip ya too far

ow my back ;)

i took dance lessons from the age of 3 until the age of 11, i had surgery and never got the strength in my right leg to dance again. i loved it, and really miss it sometimes. if you like it it won't matter how "good" you become. i wasn't amazing, but it was something i liked to do. which is what matters, and you can always take pain meds if you need

I started when I was about 4 becuase that's what i wanted to be.I'm sure you know that pro dancer's have a fairly short shelf life and 27 is far too old to be considering a career, but, take heart! Dancing is a great way to work out and have fun at the same time. You'll find muscles you didn't know you had,it can takes pounds off those trouble spots,it's great caridovacular-wise,so I would continue!Hell,I'm 54 now and can still dance rings around people half my age!
Go for it!

I was 7 when I started and I didn't take it seriously until I was 12 (now 13) and I am not the best but pretty good.

BTW

Dancing has no limit. Wether your 3 or 30 you can dance.

I have been dancing since I was 4 and absolutely love it Iam hoping to make a career of it but even if it doesnt happen I won't regret the time I spent dancing because it's so much fun. I would reccomend dancing to anyone of anyb age because it keeps your fitness levels up and makes you feel good about yourself. 27 may be a bit old to be the next darcey bussel! but you're still young so if you did wnat to turn it into a job you could teach children dance in your local area. I wish you the ebst of luckx

ive been dancing since i was three years old :)
im now almost 15 and i would say that im pretty good .. but only because i try hard, like my body is not made for ballet at all. im good at jazz, tap, and modern though . I've achieved a lot in dance over the past two years because i got bumped up a level, and made it into a performance group that im one of the youngest girls in it.

i have been dancing since i was three years old. i'm currently 14.

i have been dancing since i was 4 and stopped when i was 14 still wished i did it, i just got really busy.

I started dancing when I was five, and I have been dancing for six years. I do ballet and jazz, and I am on pointe in ballet, and in the second highest level in jazz. Even though you are 27, you are not too old to start dancing. In fact, my mom, age 40, takes a few dance classes a week (started in her 30's)! Your joints probably won't start to hurt just yet, but just to make sure, take a yoga or pilates class, because it will help in your flexibility. (that is what my mom does) Hope this helps!

I started dancing when I was 15 and still continue today. When I started dancing I didn't understand nothing. Yet after awhile I know what to do. I learned new stuff in the process as well. Don't give up. As long you know you can dance. That all that matter. Yet don't over do your body. Try staying healthy and stuff.

Well, I started taking dance lessons at age two and now I'm thirteen.

i started dancing when i was two and im now 18. i dnace with the Australian ballet and have been for two years now. It doesnt matter when you start it matter how hard you work and want to dance. there are people who are in the company and have only just started dancing two years before they started in the company.

i started at 5 and now i'm 13 and still dancing strong!
