Position:Home>Dancing> What kind of dance from should I do?

Question:Hey!
I am a 15 year old boy; I am slender, 163 cm tall, athletic, energetic, not very flexible but I have some balance. I love to dance, I have never had practice or anything like that, I just dance in my room with the door locked. I flow very easily into the music and usually sing if there are good lyrics. I want to learn a dance form but I have two problems. First, I don’t want people to think I am gay or anything because I dance, and I don’t know what kind of dance style I should do. Do you have any suggestions of what I should do?

Ps: If it helps, the music I like is Musicals like Hairspray, Grease and so on, Jazz, Classical singers like Frank Sinatra, and Rock, but not too much hip hop or R&B.

halloo

firstly . DONT think your "gay" or anything cause you dance.
:]

now
i would recommend ballet because thats the basis to any dance
itll teach you teqnique, posture, balance, flexibility.

or jazz

because you said that you like classical music
& also because the hairspray style of dance is something similar to jazz

follow your dreams & happy dancing :]

xx

I would suggest Ballet because once you can do that, if you decide to branch off to other genres you'll pretty mcuh be set. If you're worried about being called gay(seriously if you love dance enough who cares anyway) then Jazz and lyrical are good ones. then if oyu'd prefer partener dance, try jive or westcoast swing...remember alot of schools let you have trial lessons so have a go at a few and see what you like best...: )
