tagenspa...'s answer is quite good. i watched your video however and here are some things i noticed..

you have a beautiful arch which will look beautiful in a point shoe. however, because of your high arches your ankles will be very weak for your first few months of point work. make sure to do strenghening excercises in and out of your point shoes.

a lot of releve's and echappe's will help build strength..it will hurt but if you don't..expect an ankle injury. you need to be able to support your body on one foot while in arabesque!!!

also try to get a shoe with a stronger shank (the bottom part of the shoe) depending on how well you get onto the box of your shoe (the part you balance on when en pointe) you may need a Hard Shank or you may need to purchase a "red card" which is placed inside the shoe to add more resistance.

Good Luck with your Pointe!

i did ballet for 17 1/2 years. i got on point at 9 years old and i started danmcing at 3 1/2. your form is ok but it needs some improvement. try point w/out shoes. best of luck. get ready for bloody toes, ingrown nails, broken toes, and all the beauty.... just try to cheat the firts couple of months and stuff the points with cotton balls. also try to oil the leather on the sole it helps flexibility with the arch.

thanks

I wish I could see what the rest of your body is doing. So much of pointe work is strength in all parts of your body. (Center, legs, ankles, form of the upper body.) You do need to work on pushing the ankles our further while in demi pointe or you will sit too far back on your box of your shoes.

-Paint clear finger nail polish on the upper sides of your toes.
-Keep your toe nails cut short or you will loose them.
-Tape your toes .
-There are many things to protect your feet in pointe shoes now. Look at all options while trying your shoes on. Nothing bulky, but comfort is good. (We are not in old days anymore.)
-Take care of blisters and rubbing in shoes with moles skin. Sold at any drug store.
-Remember that you need to find a shoe that works for you. (Do not let anyone talk you into a shoe that is not right for you or you will be miserable.)

Good luck. Dream, Dance, Live.

u look like ur straining ur arch too much, when ur on pointe if u arch from ur ankle too much u will go over ur box and hurt urself. work on ur arch, it looks pretty good though. GOOD LUCK!! lol ive been dancing 10 years and havent gotten my pointe shoes yet :( have fun!!
