Position:Home>Dancing> What does a ballet audition consist of? Am I right?

Question:I'm 13, 5'10, and around 135-140 lbs. I take twelve or so 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour classes a week and am in Int II-Int III (only one more level) I was wondering if I had the right body type for a ballet audition. Also, what do auditions consist of? Can I wear a colorful leo?

Your weight and height sound fine.

An audition consists of a typical ballet class: barre, center, and across the floor combinations (adagio and allegro). As for what to wear, all audition notices will include what attire is required. If black leos aren't specified, then feel free to wear a solid colored leo with traditional camisole straps. Nothing too bright and newfangled with the design - and definitely avoid non-symmetrical styles. But to play it safe, be sure you have a spare black leo in your dance bag, just as you should always have a spare pair of pink tights as well.

Well, it sounds like to me that your body is just fine. Although ballet is kind of...rasist to body types, you shouldn't worry. As long as you are not obese and have talent, you will do well. Usually in an audition, if i am right, they will lead you through some cherography(sp?) and then after 10-30 mins(depending on how serious they take it. ie: serious=10, not so serious=30) you show them the dance. After that, they will either remove some people who just didn't get the chero or have everyone attend the interview. In the interview you tell the pannel a bit about yourself, dance experience, ect. After this, they make an elimination so-to-speak.
For the leotard, if it is a dance COMPANY you are trying out for, wearing the most colourful, full-of-life ballet attire you can will score you big points with the judges/pannel for "creativity". But if it is an audition for a dance SCHOOL or anything other then a dance COMPANY, wear just regular black leo, pink tights, pink ballet slippers/pointe shoes, maybe some rinestone bobbypins. Good luck!

i'm a ballerina, but i've never been 2 an audition, but wear a black leo. i wouldn't risk wearing a color one.
r u really good at ballet? i think u can go. wat r u auditioning for? that has a depending factor too! ask ure ballet teacher if she thinks ure ready! she knows more about wat ure body can do than u do! (funny how that works)
