Belly dance has many different costuming elements and many different costumes based on it's different styles. In fact the coin costumes are generally among the least authentic and in many cases the least interesting.

For nightclub/cabaret styles the costuming usually consists of a two piece bedlah (suit) which is frequently covered in beads and sequins with lots of draping fringe along the bust and the entire bottom of the belt. Here's some examples:

There are also one piece dresses also covered in beads, sequins, and fringe.

Then there's more folkloric styles of costuming such as baladi, saaidi, melaya leff, etc... that feature usually a dress of some sort and a hip wrap such as these:

There are also styles such as American Tribal Style (ATS) which features costumes like the ones available at this site.

Of course you can break down costuming variations further into specific styles like Egyptian Nightclub, Lebanese Nightclub, American Nightclub, Turkish Nightclub, etc... The same types of clasifications can be broke down among the more folkloric styles as well. Such as the Saaidi, baladi, hagala, etc... This is in no way a complete guide to costuming just a very brief post to explain the differences between the costuming of bellydance and Indian dance.
Indian costuming is quite different from this. The closest is that of Bollywood/Bhangara style dances. Sometimes Tribal Style Bellydancers will use these costuming elements as well.

I don't know much about the different indian dance styles and costuming so I included these links to pages which have a picture and some basic information which you could use to further search various indian costumes if you wished.

You can used beautiful coloured scarves, tassels, fringe, use your imagination. Check out bellydance sites like Shira net. com. Their site is very helpful, full of information.
Happy shimmying!
