Position:Home>Dancing> Perfect feet for pointe?

Question:I was just wondering what is the best type of feet for dancing en pointe and the worst and if you have bad feet what do you do?

I want to start ballet and go on to pointe and i have long toes with the big toe second toe and third about the same, but then the last two are so much smaller.

Are these bad feet for pointe and how would i fix the problem?

I would hate that having bad feet would mean i couldnt do pointe.

There's no such thing as "perfect pointe feet." Everyone tells me that I have the perfect ballet feet because of my high arches, but that doesn't mean I'm better because of it. There are so many different styles of pointe shoes out there that it doens't matter what shape your feet are.

You need feet that bend well. With enough determination, almost anyone could dance pointe, but will they necessarily be/look good? Of course not. Only a professional in person could answer your question, and even then, no one could know for sure.

Pointe shoes come in so many different types, widths and sizes to cater for all feet and a professional person would fit you to suit your feet.

You don't usually do pointe till you have achieved a certain standard as it takes some time to develop the strength in your ankles to be able to dance en pointe. With little ones who start young the age is usually around 14 before they dance en pointe.

Just to let you know most ballet dancers have been doing ballet for years before they go onto pointe. You can not just start straight away as your ankles will not be nearly strong enough which can lead to damaging them. Also if your technique is not good enough you will end up sickling.
A friend of mine had a slight sickle but when she went onto point the sickle was a lot worse and now only at the age of 17 has all sorts of back and leg problems aswell as having to have these needles permanently stuck into her leg.
So if you are serious about ballet you are going ot have to preapre yourself for many hard working years in normal ballet shoes working on your technique before you can go onto pointe.
And to answer you original question I dont think it particuallt matters your feet type as long as you your feet our flexible your ankles are strong and you don't sickle.
Good luck with the ballet!

My friend has been en pointe since she was eleven or twelve and has danced since she was two. She has shallow feet and she tells me that those are the worst kind of feet for pointe but she is still amazing.
