Position:Home>Dancing> What are some important characteristics of The Pajama Game and Sweet Charity?

Question:Specifically, what style is the dancing.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Specifically, what style is the dancing.

The choreographer who did both shows was Bob Fosse (he also did the musicals Cabaret and Chicago, among others.)

Fosse really had his own personal style which is hard to describe with words. Your best bet would be to do research on Fosse (and look at some of his work if possible, such as the movie version of Cabaret.)

Bob Fosse choreographed both of these originally, and his style was certainly distinctive, though a bit hard to describe. Mostly, it focuses around the idea of isolation of the dancer's body.

Here's "The Rich Man's Frug", from the Sweet Charity film. It's genius, look at it, it pretty much embodies the most exaggerated form of classic Fosse style.
