I would say you definitely need to take dance classes if this is a real dream of yours...I don't think you would be prepared for an audition if you did not. More specifically, you need tap, jazz and ballet training. I say ballet because you really need that for jazz in the professional world. I don't know any professional dancers that have never taken a ballet class. The Rockettes isn't all about splits and kicks. There are many things that need to happen. Whoaa, don't get me wrong, I totally believe you can do it, but a few high kicks isn't going to cut it. There is a great program called "The Rockette Experience" at Radio City. You need jazz, tap, and ballet training in order to participate. (There is also a summer intensive, see website for details.) If you really want this, you need to get training now.
You will need to beat a lot of odds to get into the Rockettes, but if this is truly your only dream and you want this verrry badly, not just like "Hey, that career would be rad", you can do it.
Hint: You seriously are gonna need to work your hiney off.
A lot.

The Rockettes do a lot of old style tap - time steps. Learn as much tap as you can (not savion glover style.) Check out this web site on Rockette education.
