Question:I'm trying a new, advanced ballet class. My teacher says I've improved, but I'm not as good as the other girls who have recently left my beginner class for the one I'm going to now. I DO NOT WANT TO BE TOO WEAK AND BAD!!!!!!! Please help!!! I have until January!!!!!!!!!! Stretches, exercises for legs/ankles/back/abs, diet tips (its very strict, but I love it!)

okay i posted like the same question and now one helped me but here is what im pry going to start

legs- (most important i think)

100 frog jumps a day.

go on the stairs in your house. put your toes on the edge of of the stair let your feet hang down good stretch.

splits 5-6 times a day, butterfly plus anything else you like

50 rises a day you dont need your shoes on or anything. i prefer doing them quickly but still correctly, it gives you a burn

okay this doesnt have a name but second position plea releve but still in plea straighten and bend 50 times

abs-
laying down in bed spell the alphabet with your toes. like lift up the leg like a foot do uppercase lowercase on both sides.
do wall sits for a cumulative of five minutes a daythat does wonders

also 50 sit ups and 20 sit ups a day

but dont do anything on the holiday!

for your diet make a list of three or four things that are bad for you. replace them with better things go to the grocery store and get them. for example chips, diet soda, and cupcakes goes to watermelon, lemondae, and popcorn of something this might make a difference but the exercises def. will

First off, someone once told me that you should never compare yourself to others.

But for contitioning.

The best person to go to is your teacher. She will give you a lot of advise on what they are looking for in the exam. And what you can do to get stronger and more toned.

First off you can't 'fail' ballet classes unless its an exam. You can always move up or down but you can't fail. Because your not competing against anyone else-that Ballet class is just for you.

I'm always a bit cautionary when it comes to giving diet advice because I'm not an expert. The best person to see for that is your doctor. But just try and eat healthy and cut out any soft drink and chips.

Just give the class a try-you haven't even done it yet so you don't know what its like. And how do you know that your not as good as those girls? Your teacher may see potential in you that she does not see from the other students.

Now and up till January I suggest you start to stretch everyday no matter what. Stretch while your watching TV, waiting for dinner etc. Try and get all 3 splits, leg mounts, higher kicks and focus on your turns. Also try Pancakes (http://youtube.com/watch?v=GJoTStClP1M )

Now that your going into Advanced classes you will be doing more dances rather than exercises. Make sure that you practise your turns HEAPS. Because you really do start to do more of them as you move up the classes.

I hope this helps, best of luck :)

/edit: why the thumbs down?

You are a prisoner of your genetic body build in many ways. Also, when you have a growth spurt you may lag behind a bit, and then find yourself excelling. Work hard and your time to bloom will come. Ballet class is the best exercise for improving your ballet.
