Are they doing it for a reason? I find that you work so much more harder if its for competitions, demonstrations or exams or something.

In general try and be as happy as possible and make it a fun environment to perform.

I feel a lot more motivated if its a dance that I actually enjoy. If its too late to change the choreography keep in mind for next time to make it exciting to dance to.

Watch some movies or stuff on youtube to get them motivated to perform their best as well. As soon as I see something truly inspiring I really try my best. Check out some of these:

And just look at some old movies such as Singing In the Rain to get them into it!

Good Luck with everything and I hope this helps :)

Just tell them that even if they aren't excited just be excited and full of life and remember that the audience is watching them and they need to entertain.

You have to hold a really upbeat warm-up (unless it's something like ballet), put on some upbeat tunes, preferably songs that they are into, recent popular songs and all that and they'll feel energised. Plus you have to be pumped the whole time you're teaching them, and encourage them lots.

What we do before we perform is stand in a circle with our arms around eachother's shoulders and we put our right foot in the middle and point it. Then we say a prayer and then someone starts off our cheer. Our team cheer is like a step cheer, we say "Hey Belles." "Hey what." "Hey Belles" "Hey what" "Show me how ya get down" "No way" "Show me how ya get down "OK" Then we came up with an eight count of step moves. It's really fun and pumps us up. I hope it works for you ( :

more upbeat music might do it, caffiene, ummm i would have to say just yell at them and imitate them show them that the audience loves a funner person more then boring
