Position:Home>Dancing> How can i learn and improve my pirroets ?

Question:Ok, if you go to www.dancewearsolutions.com or www.discountdance.com you can get these really cool devices called turning boards. They are used to perfect your balance so it is easier to turn and you can make more rotations.
Also, just work on strengthening your calf and ankle muscles, and balancing on releve. By doing this you will be able to do faster piroettes and make more rotations. Work on your preporation too. Practice getting a really deep pile and pushing off the balls of your feet because without a good preporation, you will not turn well. I hope I was some help to you! Good Luck! :)

practice just balancing on releve first. that will give you the balance you need to be able to do more rotations. also, really use your plie in your preparation to push off from and get high on releve in your turn.

Hi,
I am also trying to improve my doubles and this is what I have been doing:
Start in fourth postition, and stand there in a DEEP plie.
Then, bring your arms in first and GLUE your toe to your leg that was out in fourth(to make a turned out triangle shape)
Then, when you have balance doing that, do it again but jump up onto releve as well. Hope I helped. Happy dancing!

Okay what my dance director tells me is u have to lift up with your back make sure there is a straight line between ur toe and spinal cord. also pretend there is a pole going through u. ALSO make sure that the ball of your foot is fairly flat against the floor your ankles should be stable so the ball of ur foot doesn't wable on the floor! at least that is how I got my quad!!!!!
