I think you need to look at how music and arts have evolved over the decades to see what influences what. Over time, old stuff is remade into new stuff. Just look at music history as a starting line. Blues and Jazz in the 40's influenced 50's and 60's music... into 80's and 90's. Pop is usually defined as being socially acceptable to all. Most niches in music is only liked by a certain type of listeners.
