Position:Home>Dancing> Attention Dancers... leg soreness!?

Question:Right now in dance, we are doing our kick unit. I have pretty good kicks, but after class, the back of my thighs are SO sore, and they will stay that way for days. Any suggestions to help the pain?

I went through the exact same thing. And sometimes I still do! As the first person has said; you need to stretch before and after class.

Try all of these stretches that particularly stretch the legs. (They're strange pictures I know :P)

Tell your dance teacher as well that your legs are hurting, she will know your body a lot better than us and she can probably give you so more tips.

Make sure that when you stretch after class at your dance school you stretch straight away when you get home. Try and use your fists like these (This pic was taken with my web-cam): http://i4.tinypic.com/7wr3bpe.jpg and kind of pound them on your leg. I find that, that massage technique works too.

Good Luck! Hope this helps :)

Ive been dancing for 11 years and my legs still get sore all the time. The best thing you can do it stretch thouroughly before and after your class. Dont sit completley still after you dance, or your muscles tense up and make the soreness worse. If its really bad icy hot doesnt hurt once in awhile, or breifly massage your leg.

you need to stretch your legs way better to reduce pain
