Position:Home>Dancing> I'm so comfused please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!?

Question:For the past two years I've attended a summer camp, Camp Jori and Jewish Camp in Wakefield, RI, which I did not like at all. For the 6 weeks I was there, I spent most of my time sending letters to my parents, begging them to take me home. It was a horrible experiance for me, and I never want to go there again.

Now my mom wants me to go to a different camp. I really love to dance (I've only been dancing for one year, though) and I want to go to a Dance Camp. I was thinking about going to Camp Med-O-Lark for 4 weeks and American Dance Training Camp (www.americandancetrainingcamp.com)

But now I'm having second thoughts. Even though Camp Med-O-Lark seems nice, and the director took time to go to my house to talk to my family about it, it only has a small dance program. And American Dance Training Camp is all focused on dance, but they seem VERY strict, and I know a few friends that went there, they thought it was ok, but they didn't return. I guess they just weren't crazy about it.
Then I found this camp, Belvoir Terrace, (http://www.belvoirterrace.com/.) It seems very nice (and quite expensive.) Should I go there instead? I don’t know, Belvoir seems for perfessionals and rich girls. My family has a good and comfortable amount of money, but we aren’t exactly “rich.” I would like to try out this camp, but there is only one option, 7 weeks, for a whooping $10,000. But then again, Med-O-Lark for one month costs about $5,000 and American Dance Training Camp also costs about $5,000.

Oh what should I do??? And please tell me why you think I should go to which camp.

Thank you so much!

Belvoir sounds very nice and I think it would suit you. I don't know where you got the idea that the dance level is hard. I read through the web site and the Dance page specifically said that "beginning classes are available in all styles of dance." You don't even need to audition to get in, so that tells you right there that it's not for pre-professionals. But they certainly bring in some big name teachers to conduct master classes. That sounds really great! And outings to Jacob's PIllow! That's Dancers' Heaven!

For once I'm disagreeing with Joachin. You have to be at least at the intermediate level to audition for the summer intensives he's recommending and you're still a beginner and not on pointe. Sure, go to the auditions and try them out, but I think you might find it to be a really discouraging experience.

well how serious do you want to be in dancing that will help u pick...

How serious do youuu want to be not the place See how good the camps are and see which one qualifys most of ur needs and btw this is not a stupid answer...

OK....Take a deep breath and listen..... You need to try out for a summer dance intensive put on by a nationally recognized dance school like the Atlanta Ballet, Washington Ballet, Joffrey, The Rock School of Dance, Nutmeg Academy, Houston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet....etc. The schools you have described so far seem WAY expensive compared to the schools I've listed. I don't know how old you are, but you need to do some serious research and soon. Your local school should be able to provide a lot of guidance. The tryout period for the schools I've listed is Jan thru March. Don't expect to coddled - expect to be challenged...are you good enough? or are you just indulging in wishful thinking? Lots to think about here. I am NOT trying to be nasty, but realistic. I wish you good luck and hope you find what you seek.

I would go to Camp Med-O-Lark. I think it seems like a nice camp and you'll get a lot of training there - and it'll be fun. Belvoir Terrace seems pretty amazing, but it is rather expensive and is probably for a higher level - i don't know, how good are you? And don't go to ADTC - I've been there, it's terrible.
