Position:Home>Dancing> Has anyone taken a 9 year old boy to Nutcracker ballet?

Question:I would like to take my 9-year old son to the upcoming Nutcracker ballet show and he told me that "if it is too long I don't want to go". Is it engaging enough that time will not be an issue. From what I understand, it is about 2 hours long. Will boys take it?

thank you

I was 10 years old when I first saw Swan Lake. I fell asleep before the swan died lol. But if he was anything like me he would have been amazed by how beautiful it was.

The last time I went to the Nutcracker put on by the Australian Ballet, the magician did lots of magic tricks which involved bangs and fireworks etc. He would defiantly like that part of it. If its this month I think he would connect to it more because its very christmassy. Also, there were about 12 children in the version I saw, I think he would like that as well.

I think you should take him, you never know he just may fall in love with it and want to see it over and over again. And like me, he might fall asleep before it finishes! :)

Hope this helps :)

It all depends on the type of kid...my elementary school took 1st graders to the ballet. I know some 9 year old boys who loved it, others not so much.

idk

depends on their attention span and interests, i guess

we went a long time ago in like 4th grade
and everyone seemed to be okay. i think. lol.

Does your 9 year old son enjoy performing arts? If the answer is yes, then I would take him to the Nutcracker. If your son has not had much exposure to the theater, I would rethink the idea. The performance is 2hrs long and there is no talking. Because of the lack of dialogue, it may be hard for him to follow. If you want to introduce your son to the theater I would check the community theater, or children's playhouses in your area. Select a play that is light and humorous.( The company in my area just did Charlotte's Web and Suessical the Musical). Both of these would be great performances for older children. Good Luck!!!
