Is it too late?!!?

Question:i am 16 and am desperate to go back to ballet!
i quit when i was about 11.
do you think it will be too hard for me to catch up anywhere near my age group who are now all on points?

Hey hun! I broke my ankle due to poor ballet instruction when I was 12, and after my physical therapists told me I would never be able to dance en pointe again, I gave up. After multiple foot injuries during my bouts in cheerleading, volleyball, and tennis, I decided to take a ballet class again in college and now, at 21, I'm back en pointe!

It will definitely take you some time to build up the strength and flexibility in your feet necessary to dance en pointe, but there is no reason why it would be impossible. Dance is a passion, and with passion you can overcome all obstacles!

Also, you're probably not the only person who has decided to return to ballet years later. Some studios offer adult classes (call them to see what the age requirements are), and some will offer private or small group lessons for an additional fee, or if there are enough dancers interested.

You'll eventually catch up, but be sure not to rush yourself. Focus on your core and your technique-- It's better to be a quality dancer with less experience than a poor dancer having to recoup from injuries consistently!

Umm... No I think you would do fine unless you had a hard time staying caught up when you were dancing. I have been dancing for 10 years and I have seen a lot of girls quit but come back a couple of years later and do fine.
