Position:Home>Dancing> Hosting a Dance! Help!!!!?

Question:Hey...so me and two other people are holding a dance for our birthdays, all in december. were turning 14. We have a place to do it, and weve rented it. We have some tentative DJs, and sound equipment.
I am thinking that we will have bean bags and butterfly chairs around the edges so people can sit, and we are going to borrow a projection screen from our school to play music videos on the wall. If people are really bored, we will have the backup of watching a movie on the screen. Were going to have pizza, chips and drinks, and lots of candy. What else??????? For lighting we are having a strobe light and a disco ball, as well as chinese lanterns. ANY other lighting ideas? Decorations? Food? If you were hosting, is there anything else you would do? Songs? Our DJs are awsome...Themes? Should we all die our hair?

You could also try burgers, wedges, pasta, and little nibbles such as sandwiches, voul-a-vents, and these nice things (I can't remember what they're called sorry) they look like chicken nuggets except they've got this nice melted cheese stuff inside.
You cold use fairy lights and string them over furniture, normal lamps which have 5 circles which change colour, lava lamps, and fibre optic lamps.
For decorations you could buy some coloured paper and cut shapes out of them and string them along the ceiling or walls and also have banners hanging down from the ceilings saying 'happy birthday' or something else nice. Also try balloons because they're always nice and you can get personalised ones from Sunflowers if there's one near you.
For songs, just use some songs that you and your guests are into right now.
You could have a movie star theme where you have a red carpet and lots of glitter everywhere and a karaoke contest etc, and themes are simple like that really.
If you're going to dye your hair try something that isn't permanent, like if you used the movie star theme you could all be given different movie stars to come as and have your hair dyed for the night so you look more like your movie star etc, also try putting glitter in your hair.

Hope I have helped, good luck xxx

fog machine for the dance floor

It all sounds great, however, if its a dance, and you have a movie going, then in general, a lot of people would just gravitate towards the movie...and that just turns into a mean downer at a dance. My advice: quit the movie. Play really good songs. Music is key. Otherwise, have fun !

No keep it the same and for soemthing for the dance floor use a fog machine and music do soulja boy its a big hit where i live and everybody knows the dance. have some slow songs everyonece and a while. o and u guys should wear tiaras since it will be ur big day and u gotta stand out. Ur theme could be winter wonderland and the invatations could be a light blue with sparkles on them. and the theme would be perfect since its winter!
