Position:Home>Dancing> How can i learn irish dancing?

Question:hi, i am part irish, and i really want to get in touch with my heritage. I love traditional Irish dancing, and really would like to learn how to do it, not for competitions or anything. I looked for lessons in my area, but the lessons start in September, and the beginner classes are meant for people 5 years of age. I wouldn't mind being in a class of people much younger than I am, but the classes don't start till next September, and I really want to learn. Can anyone help me out?

I would suggest searching for a school. If you tell me the area, perhaps I can help you find one. If you can't find anything starting now, you can definitely try videos until that time (Colin Dunne is not actually that bad a teacher in all honesty), but I'd still suggest that you join a school. If you want Irish dancers' opinions on how you can improve, take videos of yourself, post them on youtube, state that you're a beginner and ask for any tips. Usually, people are really happy to help.

If you'd like, you can email through the answer's service, and I can give a few beginning steps.

Good luck. I hope you love it as much as I do.
