Position:Home>Dancing> How to make pointe shoes stop slipping off heels??

Question:i got these new pointe shoes, and no matter what i do, they keep slipping off my heels! ive tightened the elastic, made sure everything is sewn in the right place, laced them tight, pulled the drawstrings, but still they slip off my heels when i walk in them or do spring ups! is it possible they're just too small? (they're definitely not too big!) my teacher suggested Razin (idk how to spell it). what is that? how does it work, and do you think it will? our performance is in december! and the problem is, i lost my previous pointe shoes so i cant just use those!! aaah!

my friend has this same problem. what she does is she sews a little loop of elastic onto the back of her pointe shoes. Then she puts her ribbons through the elastic loop to keep the back of the shoes up. Hope that helps =]

Its absolutely possible that theyre too small. Rosin is chalk dust, like the crushed version of what you apply to violin strings, which helps a tad with slipping, but it wont keep your shoes on. If the shoes will accept a return after theyre sewn, good, but I doubt they will. You may have to get refit.

Rosin may help if you apply a little bit to the heel of your tights. You can also stitch your shoes to your tights, then just cut the thread when you need to take off your shoes. Good luck!

Try putting on an extra set of ribbons that start futher back and will come right round your ankle like normal, that should keep them on at the back. Ask your teacher first though if you can do it because it will make them look different from everyone elses.

I don't know why your teacher would suggest rosin. It helps so you don't slip on the floor. (tip- use it!) Anyway, I have the same problem with my shoes. They're not too small for me, although it could be for you, so I'd get them checked at least. (Careful though, because if you don't get it done by a place you really trust, they might just tell you they're too small so you'll buy new ones.)

The way I solve my problem is to sew on a loop of elastic on the back of the shoes. It shouldn't stick up very far, because then your foot will slip out anyway. The length on my elastic is about 1/2" above the shoe top. Try it!

i have the same problem and i use heel grippers. they work the best. i also so the elastics(not the ribbons) back as far as i can so that both ends are almost touching. both of these tricks help alot! the heels never fell off again.

wet the back of the heels-this shrinks the fabric making it stay on. that's what i do every time i get a new pair.
