Position:Home>Dancing> When i was on pointe a couple days ago...?

Question:it cracked my toenail down...it had gotten a little long but i didn't have time to fix it before i was at class. so now its down to the bit where it hurts to even put pressure on it. you know what i mean? so when i go up on pointe now, my toe is sinking until my toenail has support...and it hurts really bad to stay up and there are a lot of burres in a dance im doing this year...

is there anything i can do to help keep it in place? like putting tape on my toe or something? help please, i have a performance on friday...thanks!

yea i'd say lambs wool or another miracle worker is 2nd skin. does wonders for all sorts of blisters and sore spots.

That happens to me all the time. What I do is tape that toe and put either lamb's wool or a cotton ball on the tip of the toe so that the pressure is put on the cotton. It helps cushion my toe and it helps it not hurt so much.

Hope this helps

Good Luck!!!

i would say that have a nice hot bubble bath, which might make it feel better .
keep putting ice on it eevery chance you get, so maybe if it is swelling, itll stop before frieday.
tape it for support, this will make it easier to stay up , as you do not need to work that toe as much .
make sure your toenails are cut for the performance :)

GOODLUCK !
i would hate to see you be in pain for your performance. :(

My best guess would be to put Toe Tape around your toe to keep it from getting worse but this might not help the pain. You could also try something different every time you go to class to find the best solution before your peformance. You should always be prepared for the worst. Right after the performance you should probably take a break from pointe so your toe can heal. Or if thats not a possibility, try soaking your feet in a nice hot soothing bath and then get a pedicure. being a dancer you have to always keep your toenails super short. Try eating food that helps strengthens your nails too. Hope this helps!
