Question:If you take ballet classes and there is only one or just a few guys in the class with all other girls do the guys do the same thing as the girls? I am asking because I think that I am going to start ballet soon, and have read that there are parts of ballet that only the girls do, so I just wondered what the guys did then? Also if there is only one guy does he usually just wear the same uniform as the girls? I don't want to recieve any special treatment just because I am a guy so whatever they want me to do or wear is fine, I was just curious. Thanks for any help you can give me.

There is one guy at my studio. He does basically the same as the rest of us, but like some of the jumps my teacher makes him do higher or like beat them more. He wears black tights and shoes opposed to pink. He also wears a t-shirt or tank above them. On colder days he might wear sweats or legwarmers just like everyon else.

P.S. Good for you to do what most guys would call sissy or something like that.

Assuming you're talking about classical ballet?
Been a while since I as a boy also started ballet..
The first 2 years (young age!) it basically was all the same for me as the only boy in the class as the girls.
After that it took more a turn where I got more man-parts in opposite of the woman-parts. (Lifting etc..)
I've been doing ballet now for about 24 years and still loving it ;o)

It's good to see another man / boy going for it!
Have fun and stick with it!

In my ballet school, guys wear black shoes (as opposed to pink) and jazz pants (or something similar) and t-shirts for classes. Most of the basic stuff is the same, but guys don't do pointe ballet and they do lifts in the choreography, as well as being required to do more jumps (entrechat six and above, if you know what that is).

At my studio the guys do mostly the same warm ups and exercises but when we get to center my teacher gives them different turns and jump combinations meant for men. There are movements that are done specifically by men but thats usually for the more advanced guys. My guesses are if your just starting you'll probably be doing mostly the same stuff at the girls.
