Is swing dancing still cool?

Swing dancing is as cool today as it was a few years ago and even cooler than it was when it started 60 - 70 yrs ago. It is still popular but it was forced to go underground (you might say). After mainstream media stopped promoting it (ex. Docker's commercial), it fell out of the limelight. There are still plenty of dances to go to; you just have to look a little harder. And just because it is not promoted as a "Swing Dance", it doesn't mean you can't swing dance to the music. Jump Blues music and early Rock n Roll is some of the best swing music there is. We promote swing dancing and swing dancing events. It is great to get people together for the fun of social dancing!

It is not only cool, it is a blast! And great exercise! Look at how long swing dancing has been around....always cool.

Well, I am of the younger generation and I have always wanted to get into it. I love dancing and it looks very exciting.

Should it matter if it is cool? If you enjoy it, do it. If you want to learn--it's a blast!

If you love something just do it. There will always be someone out there to tell you you are a nerd so you might as well enjoy yourself.

Swing dancing is still cool. It is a very fun dance and you can get very creative wuth the steps.

There are several styles of swing dancing- all of them are cool! There are probably swing clubs near you- probably more than one, since West Coasties don't do well with East Coast/Jitterbuggers- the music is too different.

Don't think so, there are loads of different dance classes these days!

Whatever you're picturing as Swing Dancing is probably Lindy Hop, the original form of Swing Dancing that developed out of the Charleston Age and dominated the Swing Era until WW II. It is a fantastic dance and can easily become an all around lifestyle. Don't hesitate to look up your local Lindy Hop or Swing Dance community. You'll never be more welcomed.
