Position:Home>Dancing> Suggestions for beginning pole dancing.?

Question:I'm very interested in pole dancing as an art form, and I was wondering if anyone could provide me with advice as to what exercises I should do to start with. I don't have access to a pole, so I would appreciate exercises that could be done without one, just some general exercises to get me in shape for future pole dancing endeavors. I know it takes a lot of core and upper body strength. I would also appreciate advice from anyone who has ever pole danced before. Thanks a lot!

Personally I am a dance student for modern dance and also taking aerial ring classes as well.. and have a pole in the comfort of my own house. So pole dancing is a GREAT way of exercise esp upper body strength .... what you are looking for before beginning these Hard and I mean it will be (hard) stunts you need to build upper body strength

start out with push up's... this link gives a good bunch of exercises to try out

I have never pole danced in a club but I can tell you you will develop great abs and your arms will get strong and fit.. so good luck liek i said it is addicting and lots of fun screw people whom hate on pole dancing i wouldnt go as far as a "art form" In my opinion is is a "form of dance" and takes great skill..so people who hate or rag about it.. they really need to research on how fit the woman and men who do it. Personally your mind has to be in the right place.. you will fall you will get bruises and pole dancing is popping up everywhere local ymca's hold pole dancing classes in my city to make woman feel sexy and to have fun.. so google searching is a good tool in all your questions but i hope I helped

good luck!

feel your sexy body and your audience

get a job at the local strip club, you'll have all the access you need to develop your "art form"

boo! you whore!!! you should be ashamed of yourself!!!

Well....that's and interesting "art form" to chase after.

Maybe try something a little bit "cleaner"???
I would go for ballet, or even couples' dancing, like Salsa.

whats with all these people who think pole dancing is for sluts?? These guys seriously need to watch some proper acrobatic pole dancing, I'd like to see them try it :) to pole dance, you need to be incredibly strong. its pretty much a whole body workout but you should really work on your arms and core the most. I'm glad someone is taking pole dancing seriously, I'm dying to try it once i get a bit older. happy dancing

It is so amazing to me on how many ignorant people there are on Yahoo Answers, who so openly show his/her ignorance when giving answers.

I own my own dance pole company and have just opened a Pole Dance Studio. It take an incredible amount of upper body strength to pole dance.

You could start with doing lots of crunches, sit ups, if you have access to a weight bench or free weights start doing curls . Also another way is to start doing pull ups.

I hope this helps and you could always go to my site and purchase a dance pole for your home. We also offer a lay a way program. http://www.hardcorepoles.com

Happy Poling.
