Does anyone know if the stars on "Dancing with the Stars" get paid any

They just get a trophy, and the first place winner gets some symbolic amount of money like couple of thousand dollars (wich is peanuts on their scale of things), just like any other major dancesport competition. The original idea of the show was to make it feel and look like a real competetition. Well, some things have turned out differently (like the audience vote means a lot, while in real competition in means very little if at all), but some things stayed.

They only get the trophy and an ego boost!

No, they do not have a rusty green penny profit on it, just they are the celebrity elit of the easygoing wealthy families , the kind, thats crawing for recognition this way.
All the coreography is at the expense of their families, the entree fee of the show does not even close 10% of their costs.
They deserve the recognition they crawing for!!!
