hey thanks for answering my question! and yeah of course i can help you. your flexibility sounds great, a great foundation for a potentially amazing toe-touch. chances are you won't have to do the splits or anything at tryouts, they will be judging your jumps. so i suggest buying 3-5 lb weights that can strap around. you can put these on your ankles while doing jumps, and arms for sharp motions. my coach requires them, we always use them at practice and they help SO much! leg lifts are probably the most helpful in working the muscles necessary for the perfect toe-touch. sit in a straddle position and put your hands behind you for support, leaning back slightly. lift your right leg off the floor in this position, up and down trying not to hit the floor. do the other leg, and if you can, do both at the same time. it's pretty difficult if you've never worked these muscles before, but it REALLY pays off. do some each day and build up until you can do lots. you'll be amazed by the improvement in your jumps. you can do these with weights as well. crunches also help a lot, strong abdominal muscles are important in a toe-touch. before you focus on height too much though, make sure your technique is correct. learn how to "sit" in your jumps, and always make your prep for your jump sharp, keeping your arms in a perfect T while in the air. judges don't care about how high you're jumping if you're sloppy. have a friend "lift" you off the ground as you jump, which will help you to sit in your jump. never lean forward in your jump! and point your toes. :) i'm not sure if you're trying out for school cheer or an all-star team, and the requirements vary greatly from team to team so i would recommend talking to the coach in advance, or girls already on the squad. you could enroll in a tumbling class, i would shoot for at least a back handspring. best of luck, i'm sure you'll do great with all this practice! go on varsity.com to the cheerleading section if you need help with anything else.

If you want to be a flyer you must have great balance and flexability. If you want to be a base you need to be strong. All competitive cheerleaders need tumbling. At least a round off back hand spring. As for toe touches keep practicing your splits and jumps. Good Luck!

stuuuuuuuuupid!!!!!! Thats what i say!!!

The only way to get better at toe touches is to keep practicing. Also, do a lot of stretching and you will eventually start to get higher and higher. I'm not sure about the cheer team you're trying out for but many cheer teams prefer people who can at least do a roundoff back handspring. I would recommend you taking a tumbling class. Having tumbling skills is a plus for most cheer squads.
