Am i too old?

Question:I'm 12 and I just started dancing this year. I really like it, but since I just started, I don't go to a snobby really good school. All my friends that are good dancers have been taking at the real good dance schools since they were 4. Is there a chance a will be a good ballerina? Also did I start too old to some day do pointe. I think it's soo cool and pretty. Thanks. :)

well...you did start a little late...i started pointe when i was twelve but, i go to a little school too, not a big snobby school (as you call it lol) but, i think i am doing pretty well as far as being flexible and graceful...since you started late you might not be on pointe until you are at least 14 or 15 and most dancers start by the time they are 12 but, if you really like it, dont let your age bring you down, keep doing it...you never know, you could grow up to be a professional

I was a dancer all through my childhood and still am today, with 6 daughters who are ballerinas, one of them was already Clara in "The Nutcracker" for two years and the other is Clara this year. I was also Clara for three years in my company's production. One of my best friends from when I was growing up in the dance studio was 2 years older than me, started when I was 10, and she was 12. She was on the same level as me for two years, but she was a year below most girls her age (I was a year ahead of most girls my age). She got her point shoes when she was 14, and that summer she did multiple dance programs and accelerated greatly. She loved dance ALOT, and she took all the classes on my level and all the classes one level above, and one below as well. You can do it, you just ahve to work harder than some of the other girls that it comes natraully to. Good luck!

i did ballet when i was really young and just started again this year i am 14 now and im starting to catch up with everyone im going to be on pinte soon so no i dont htink you are too old. my mom didnt start ballet until she was 18 years old and by the time she was 24 she was asked to try out for the new york city ballet. if you love to dance and work really hard im positive you can ahieve your goal goo dluck
