Heh, I can relate – my teacher isn't very big on tutus either and I'm dying to dance in one for my end of year concert!

I guess you can just talk about it with the other girls in your class, then kind of (subtly =P) bring it up during a class. I don't think the teacher would refuse if a whole class of girls was wanting to start wearing tutus.

Wearing practise tutus and performance tutus can expand your experience with costuming on stage, and if you've done a bit of research into the history of ballet costuming, the tutu was invented because it was aesthetically pleasing and wasn't heavy or in the way of a dancer's limbs when she executed her movements.

Gett he history on tutus & maybe if they were traditionally worn in a dance you do or will do.....she will bend. Or ask her if you can do a vote & hope the others are interested.

I think that you shouldn't push it. Ballet teachers are considered some of the most strict teachers of all time.

She probably won't budge on the whole tutu issue since they really get in the way of her doing her job. They don't allow her to see your extentions all the way and if your legs bent and she can't see it, then she can't point it out, and you can't become a better dancer.

One thing you might want to try, is ask if one class every month your class be allowed to wear a tutu.

To class? -snorts- She won't let you 'cause that's kinda ridiculous... You can't work in class with a tutu. You have to stick with the uniform, (pink tights, black leotard I'm guessing).

For a recital... Sorry, hon. That's up to her what you get to wear for performing. There's not much you can do for that.

well thats odd. for like recitals she won't let you? maybe theres not enough money to get some or maybe she just doesn't like them. i would say if you bug her she will do something really bad. so i wouldnt bug her about it. but you could just....idk
