Listen to dance music, that is, music you want to dance to and learn to count it. I'm sure you can find a pattern in it, at least acknowledge that it exists. Out of this pattern, find the strongest beats. Clap your hands on the strongest beat. Can you do it? You've just proven that you have rhythm. Practically anybody has rhythm. We are born with it because we all have hearts that beat. But I digress. Now that you've found the strongest beat in the music, which is counted as "1", listen for other beats. You will find that most dance music can be counted as 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3.
The next step will be to teach your body to move to the rhythm. Even those with a degree in music sometimes find it challenging. It's one thing to hear the beat, and it's completely different story to order your feet and body to move with it.
But I digress again. To improve your sense of rhythm, listen to music and count it.

If you learn how to play an instrument that will really help you create rythm, i dance and ive been told i have exceptional rythm and i have never played an instrument, i am lucky but learning how to play and instrument will really help you. =]

close your eyes, and listen closely to the music to find the beat, once you find it and you can stay on it, then you have rhythm.

Everyone has rhythm you just have to let it out. Just take a nice walk with an mp3 in your ear and relax. Let the music tell you when to step until you become one of the instruments. Dancing is just walking with and attatude.
