You're probably right, since you're comparing "most white Americans," who will readily admit to not being dancers, to select groups of others who will likely identify themselves as dancers. But you really should get out more. I'm going out dancing tonight and there will be a lot of mostly white Americans dancing in other styles, some quite well.

You sound very silly, inmature and racist.

My style of dancing is best described as "monkey-on-crack". Not a pretty sight.

people set trends. and at the moment it seems to be this sort of one.

I do think you're generalizing too much. But overall, it's a cultural thing. For the answer, look at the cultural dances of Latin Americans countries: ie salsa and merengue- the center of weight is lower, and the movement initiates from the pelvis. African dance is similar- lower center of weight and pelvic initiation, but also upper body initiation. Also, dancing is a HUGE part of African and Latin cultures. Most European countries, however, have a long history of ambivalent attitudes to the body which are reflected in dance- sort of a puritanical bias that certain types of dance are evil or vulgar. So for European descendents, dance is much less a part of their culture.

perhaps its a cultural thing
