The Juliet is leather, which I greatly prefer to canvas. Leather lasts much longer, and I personally think it looks better. The Sculpture is a synthetic material, but not canvas. The Juliet is a shoe older than dirt, meaning it has stood the test of time and always been a quality product. The Sculpture is relatively new, and among ym customers, I find it gets mized reviews. The best thing to do is get fitted at a shop fo rthem, at least for the first pair.

I wouldn't get leather ones. I have leather ones and the leather makes it easy to slip. And they also don't give your feet enough air.

It's also better to get split sole.

I don't know about any of those. I use Sansha Pro or Sillouette battet shoes. They're really easy because they're split sole and they are made of canvas instead of leather. So they're easier to work with.

only get leather ballet shoes if your dancing on wood floor, otherwise you'll be sticking to the marley floor. Go with the canvas, i prefer Sansha's but Grishko makes nice canvas ones too. You can find them at discountdance.com

definitely get split-sole. you would have to work your foot a bit harder in leather shoes to show a good point and arch then you would in canvas. personally, i HATE ballet slippers and always take my classes in holey socks. :-) but -- of all the shoes i've ever worn, the most comfortable i've ever had are fuzi's. www.fuzi.net
