Question:Im a 14 year old girl and i was recently watching dancing with stars and i just loved how the fact that they were dancing and how pretty and polished it looked and i just wanted a list of types of dances that i could take without needing a partner and that could get my body in better shape.
Im looking for something fun and fast and excellerating!
(btw I also want a career in acting so something that could help me in that too)

so I've been dancing my whole life practically, I've danced for the NBA, Schools, different teams ect...(and i'm only 17) dance will kick your butt and whip it into shape if thats what you want. While I agree that Ballet is important it is not totally nessesary for EVERY type of dance. If you want to do Hip hop thats wonderful! but I would advise you not to take ballet at the same time because of the posture that you will learn ad different moves the way to step and everything is totally 100% different than Hip Hop. I had to find that out the hard way, I took ballet when I was 3 or 4 ish and so when I wanted to move into Hip Hop it was a nightmare because I was so prim and proper whatev but now I major in pop n lock/ break dance/ hip hop type dances. ANOTHER dance that I absolutely love and I think you will too is Contemporary not modern thats something else (don't listen if someone trys to tell you they are the same because they are not. umm... lyrical is slower but it will whip you into shape and uhh... theres some classes that are like a pop/ hip hop those are pretty difficult if you have to right teacher or choreographer. But if you decide to do Hip Hop do not go with the jazzy hip hop thats soo lame and you can't count it as hip hop either choose one or the other. But remember to work hard and to have fun!

I think you should try jazz. It's fast hard but at the same time easy for dance. I would try ballet but it takes a lot more time and devotion.

to even be an ok dancer you have to take ballet AT LEAST twice a week and then take a jazz and maybe hip-hop depending on how much time you have!

oh god, any type of dance is GREAT! i have been dancing sicne i was 2, (im 15 now) and i have done basically every type of dance there is. Fun, fast, and excellerating? try jazz or hip-hop. But in any kind of dance, you will need ballet. it will give you the form and the grace that you need to excel in anything. My suggestion is to do some research and go to a studio that has a good recreational program. Take a ballet/jazz combination and start there. If you REALLY love it, take more and more. there are so many types of dance out there and it really is a great thing to experience! good luck!!!

If you want to take dance for the first time ballet is what you ALWAYS do first. Everyone says that so you can get used to the form and it helps you learn the positions faster and better. By the way ballet is always recommended for the first dance class you tak eat my school of dance. But....for the dance that you are looking for...I think you want jazz which, is like hiphop pretty much. It is the most fun dance to watch. Ballet and Jazz would def. get you into shape. I think Jazz would work you a little harder though. In ballet remember to have good posture. Tummy in Butt in Long Neck (but dont stick out your chin) and straight legs... I hope you like my advice!

Why don't you try ballroom dancing?

I think jazz would be good for you to take. Personally, it's my favorite. But, it also might be a good idea to try a few different things to see what you like best. A good reason to take jazz is that you have to know it to do many other forms of dance. Ballet is important to know too. It really helps with your technique and posture.

Take ballroom dancing. They will have other people there to be your partner. They will teach you all the types of ballroom dancing with a partner.

Hip hop is grate! u dont have to have a parkner and if you end up needing one then u can have a parkner join in! also another good dance is jazz u dont need a parkener for that! ther is also tap and ballet. thats all i can think of
