i do ballet and i'm girl. but my older brother used to do ballet since he seven. male ballet ancers are great they work well in most ballet routines. so go for it. don't wrorry abot your parents, but ask your mum first if you can do it and that you really want to be a ballet dancer. plus my bro can get his leg behind his head so he's flexible. he only done ballet because he wanted to get bigger muscules and have better stanima, for his football. and good idea in doing ballet for drama. it will really help with body langue and so on .
good luck x

there would be so many opportunities if you do whats really in your heart. there are few males that dance to any type of form and there are many scholarships for that.

I say go for it n just bite the bullet, tell ur parents its ur passion and u really really wanna do it. besides it gives guys a really good physique, if u keep at it 4 a few years, u wld have 2 beat girls off with a stick. Yes, it does help with the west end, as that involves quite a lot of movement. So it is a very good thing to do. U just ave to convince ur parents. Hope I helped. x

thats great that you want to start ballet again. if youre a boy who can act AND dance thats a big plus as far as getting into shows. now i dont know what your relationship with your parents is like, but it seems like if they love you and want you to be happy, they will support your decisions.
hope that helps :]

Well, its always nice to have a male dancer especially in Ballet to do lifts and jumps. My dance school has no boys my age, P.S I'm 14 too. The only problem with going into dance at age 14, is that when you are that older, dance teachers like to get the boys to dance with the girls and the stuff you do is alot harder. You do things like beats which means to beat your legs in and out switching which foot is in front on one jump!!! Sometimes they can do it up to ten times at once!! Well this is just my opinion but If a boy loves dance enough to start when hes is 14, I wouldn't be more honoured to be his partner. <3 :-)

i would say you are never are too old to dance , i love to dance and im 17. just sit down with your parents and talk about it and see what they think about it and go from there ....

yes! start ballet is wayy coolio. i'm 13 and a girl so yah u should start i'm soo glad i never gave up ballet when i was little!! good luck!

Just tell them that you want to do it because you'll become stronger and more flexible, and that it's a perfectly respectable art form for BOTH men and women. And if they say that only gay men dance point out Baryshnikov did ballet, and tons of straight men have done it.

Of course you're not too old!

Um, maybe?

Well..I am a dancer.. i do street jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, breakdancing, lyrical... and a fitness class.... well honestly i think you would enjoy lyrical way more.... because lyrical lets you express your emotions Kind of thru ballet.. but if you want ballet i love it you should take it... to ask your parents... tell them that its an intrest of yours and you dont want to regret not just going for it... yes it will help drama... its expressive take it if you want to... also try other forms of dance.. i used to be only a classical dancer... but now hip hop is my favorite BRANCH OUT good luck :D

1) Just say "Mom, Dad, I'd really like to start ballet and list your reasons - just make sure this is something you can commit to...don't waste their money and your time
2) You are not too old to start or to learn. The dance world is really short of male dancers....any guy is treated almost like a celebrity
3) Ballet is the foundation of all dance and will help with your posture, bearing and stage presence. Prepare to work hard and put a lot of hours on the studio floor. Good Luck

I think you should, you'll be noticed more for being a boy who enjoys ballet, and if you want to become flexible, thats a great way to. I do ballet and im enjoying it, and im becoming quite flexible. Im sure if you ask your parents they'll let you, and your not too old, and it will probably help with your drama, confidence-wise. And dont worry about those few guys who say your gay for doing ballet, i have to put up with that. But i hope you do start ballet, im sure you'll enjoy it.
