Position:Home>Dancing> Can I wear menstrual pads while doing ballet?Question:I've recently decided to take up ballet and am quite excited about it. However I'm a little worried about what to do when I'm menstruating - I had a bout of Toxic Shock Syndrome last time I used a tampon and it was very scary, I don't want a repeat, so I'm steering well clear of tampons. Yet I'm hesitant about wearing pads with a leotard/tights. Do any dancers wear pads, and would the ultra thin ones be visible or not? Thanks :) Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I've recently decided to take up ballet and am quite excited about it. If you do, you will be fine. You can't see them at all. I went to a comp once and this girl was doing her ballet solo...white tutu, she didn't realise :( poor girl...I felt really sorry for her... Soooo, yeah, you can wear pads with leotards :) If you were skirt with your leo-you have nothing to worry about! Toxic Shock Syndrome? That's sick, how did you not die? yep so don't worry, no-one will notice :-) You'll be fine, especially if youre allowed to wear shorts or a skirt over the leo yea i wear pads under my leotard, just wear the thinner ones and youll be fine you can use a pad... i just wear underwear under my tights but then over my leotard i wear soffee shorts... booty shorts work 2...or a skirt... but if that isn't allowed at your studio u could try wearing a tampon just during the class... and if you have more than one class u can change in between 2 make urself feel better... and i use always ultra thin... which aren't 2 thin... they work really well... but u should be fine... just relax and don't worry! hope it all goes well!!! |
