Position:Home>Dancing> What are the five fundamental positions in dancing?Question:it has to have drawings or illustrations pls give me the link Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: it has to have drawings or illustrations pls give me the link http://www.pbt.org/kids/positions.html 1,2,3,4,+5 position. everyone knows that FIRST POSITION Feet together. SECOND POSITION Feet apart, side by side. THIRD POSITION Feet together, heel to instep. FOURTH POSITION Feet apart, one foot in front of the other. FIFTH POSITION Feet together, one foot in front of the other, toe to heel. There are actually 6 positionf of the feet, the last is just VERY rarely used or even taught. As follows: 1st- feet turned out at the ankle, heels touching 2nd- feet are shoulder width apart, still turned out like in 1st 3rd- The heel of the front foot in placed in the arch of the other foot, still turned out 4th- If the dancer were in third, they would tendu the front leg out so the heel of the front foot is parallel with the toes fo the back foot, but there's about a foot of space between them 5th- looks a lot like 3rd but the heel touches the toes of the other foot. The goal is to have the feet touching through their entire length 6th- similar to first but there is a maximum of three inches between the toe, the goal isnt 180 degree turnout There are also 8 positions of the body as follows: croise devant = crossed in front quatrieme devant = the 4th position front efface (devant) = shaded (in front) a la seconde = to the 2nd position croise derriere = crossed in back ecarte = means "carried to shadow" the legs are seperated on an oblique angle en face- directed toward the audiance, some schools teach epaulment instead, which means over the shoulder, however this is also achievable through positioning in ecarte, and technically, epaulment is just positioning fo the shoulders. Epaul is french for shoulder. quatrieme derriere = the 4th position back |
