Position:Home>Dancing> Do I have to wear tights under capri pants for modern dance class?

Question:I'm just starting in a modern dance class. The dress code is relaxed (dance clothes, knees should be covered, and ankles should show).
Would it be improper to wear a leotard with black capri dance pants to modern class? If I wear that, would I also have to wear footless tights under the pants, or are the pants and leotard enough?

Whatever you wear to dance (whether ballet or modern) is your choice. tights conform to your legs and also make you feel a little lighter. it makes leaping easier because of this. when you are in a dance class, i would honestly say that pants and leotard is enough, personally... especially since tights with pants get really hot... that and i'm a lazy bum. but seriously, you shouldn't have to think about it this much. as long as whatever you're wearing is sweat-absorbing, comfortable, and stretchy, it shouldn't get in the way of your dancing. :)

It just depends on your personal preference. I, myself, HATE sliding around on the floor with bare legs because it hurts lol >.<. But you might not like it because you may find it restricting.

It would be perfectly acceptable to wear :)

If you get footless lights, you can cover it over your heel as well.

you can wear the leotard with the capri pants. you don't *have* to wear footless tights, but you may want to....

I wear tights underneath my jazz pants. You can get the convertible tights that you can just roll up. If your Capri pants ride up a little if you are doing allot of stuff on the ground then the tights will help you slide a little better. But if it is just your skin then it might rub against the floor. Just my opinion though!

Whatever you want to wear, as long as you follow the rules should be alright. Just make sure you wear some kind of footless tights, convertible are the best. If you don't you'll skin up your knees and trust me, it hurts. If I were you I would wear convertible tights, a tank top, and some type of capri pants or stretchy pants. Have fun and I hope this helps!

Just wear what you feel comfortable moving in. If it's your first class check out what the other girls are wearing and what the teacher would like. If she has specifics know that you should wear that next time but for the first class anything you are comfortable in is fine. Good Luck!
