Question:i have been dancing since i was 7 at the same studio and i have loved it,but in the past year i still haven't been moved up and sometimes i wish i didn't have to go.it fun at times but now it seems like all it is about is winning.i have always wanted to try cheer out.im thinking about dropping out next year and doing cheer.what do you think is better??what are the pros and cons of both.thank you so much!!! ? =]

As a dancer who has been through the same dilemma, i believe that a dancer will never be happy unless they are DANCING. I have danced since I was 3 (now 20) and quit for 3 years to cheer. Yes, it was enjoyable, but it never filled the same void that dance does.
In my case, and what it sounds like in yours, is that you are unhappy with your dance SCHOOL, not particularly in dance. Try looking up other schools in your area and check them out. You might find that you fit better at another studio. In my case, once I found a school that was geared more towards what I was looking for, I rediscovered the love for dance that had gone missing.

Cheerleading:
Pros:
-If you love the attention, you get to perform in front of lots at the football game
-If you like revealing outfits, then you will get to wear revealing cheer outfits, again in front of lots.
-You get to do a lot of flips and moves.. It would be a good workout, & would strengthen you.

Cons:
-People, especially girls might think you are a s'lut
- If you aren't very flexible, you wouldn't make it.

Dance:
Pros:
-You improve your dance skills..
-You get to learn dance moves.. and practice dance, of course.
-Again, dance is also a good workout, but it involves actual dancing rather than flips & tricks that are involved in cheerleading
-If you get to do dance shows, you get to wear pretty outfits

Cons:
-You wouldn't get to do cheer, if you wanted you, since you are saying that you can't do both.

so try cheerleading out

This happened to me. First try a break off of dancing. If what happens to you happens to me then you may realize that your really miss danicing. If you don't miss it too much then try cheering out. Maybe go to the informational meeting and see what it is all about and then decide between the two. Good Luck!
