Position:Home>Dancing> Nutcracker Ballet Tradition?

Question:On the radio every year, I always hear about how it is such a tradition to watch the Nutcracker ever year........
Why is it a tradition? Isn't it the same every year? Isn't it kind of expensive to go to every year? Do you know anybody that really goes every year?

I think part of it's the music. It really conveys a lot of emotion. I'm in Nutcracker every year, and it really brings people together. Everybody's reason for going is different, but it sure pays off for us ballerinas! In terms of expense, yeah it can be a bit of a wad, especially if you go to a fancy city ballet, but even those aren't really that bad. For our Nutcracker, we sell tickets for $6-10, and it's always really fun to watch. Lots of people go each year, particularly if they're family. I know mine do, and I'll go as long as I can dance. Just consider.

Tradition? I'm not too use about that, but it's a really beautiful production to go see atleast once, especially if you have children.

My 10 year daughter has been taking ballet lessons every year since she was 4, and been in the Nutcracker every year since she was 6.

She attends a local dance studio that puts on a Nutcracker, and has done so every year for over 30 years.

For us it is expensive every year, but we are willing to do it because dance is one of the few things our daughter is passionate about.

It is not so expensive for people to attend a performance. Runs about $15-18 per person.

So a good, local production in which you know one or more performers is meaningful and not too expensive.

well idk who goese everyyear but george balanchine has a specifi cherographes ballet and everyyear i addition for it. i've been many differnt roles. i suggest it mofr for younger kids but the long duet w/ the sugerplum fairy and her cavalair is kinda long
