Question:I have had my splits on and off for years and a dance I'm doing this year requires lots of flexibility ( and splits)...does anyone have any stretches that could help me!

Well...do these exercises each day and you will be able to do a split in about a month...
1. frog stretches (hold for 2 minuets) http://gvctemp17.virtualclassroom.org/sp...
2. Stratles, really hold back you legs and then bring you head down to the ground in front of you
3. More Stratles, slide down to your stratle (your legs compleatly out the side) and go down till you can't any more (hold you self with you arms)
4. Butterflys (touch nose to foot)
5. Practice doing splits not useing your hands (hold for 20 seconds)

if you're going through a growth sprout this could affect it.
lay with your booty against the wall, laying down, legs in the middle split. i used to sit like this for 7 min and i felt very stretched afterward. also, extensions were you grab your foot and extend (back, front, side) will help. just practice whenever you can (when your in class, watching tv, before dance and after), and you'll notice improvement. this wont just happen over night. =]

im telling you just stretch everyday... try to hold your splits as far as you can go down for 20 seconds on each leg once a day everyday. streatch whenever you can... for example... while you are watching tv or on the computer [ like i am doing as we speak] lol. ya so theres not much you can do just stretch as much as you can, but don't push it too hard or u will hurt yourself. also, mkae sure you are stretched out good and warmed up before you attmept splits or you will hurt your self.
as for specific stretches.. flex and pointe your toes, open your legs into a kinda straddle and bend over to touch your nose to the floor. stand up and bend over to the floor. what ever feels good.. is probably ok. just don't push it too hard.

stretch stretch and stretch somemore. when you are watching tv dont sit on the couch sit in a stadle and lean over the whole time each commercial break push your stradle a little further.
