If you keep washing them in a washer you will keep picking up colouring from things like jeans etc. Also if you dry them in a dryer and they turn dark from it you have it on to high of a heat cycle. They are literally beeing burnt. I think it is the dryer that is making them darker.

Hand wash using a soft detergent like dove i think or is it swans?? Cant remember. Wash them by hand then use Ritz pink dye, just a little, and hang dry.

Remember when you hang dry them to not drape them over the shower curtain, it can stain them. Either lay them on a towel or clip them onto a line....

Basicaly I think if they are getting darker, they are probably ruined. Also some bleaches on the market these days help keep the original colour and not turn them white.

Also ask your instructor, she might have many years of experience in such things.haha

Good Luck.....

I would try handwashing in COLD water and line drying to keep the color. But if you're already doing that, maybe there is a RIT dye that is light pink that you could use.

wash them by themselves or do them by hand. That's what I do, but ignore the comment about not washing them.... that's just gross!

pink dye?

pink food coloring in a bucket of water, and soak for a few minutes? I'm serious btw.

Although I don't have the answer to your question, I want to point out to the first responder that it is impossible to dye fabric to a lighter color than it already is(unless it is bleached first), you can only dye a fabric to a darker color.

buy some new tights that are extra tough, and hand wash if possible, and if they are really dirty, than you can wash them in the machine, but if you have one of the newer washing machines then there will be a setting for delicates, and wash it alone, with nothing else.

Don't wash them.
