Position:Home>Dancing> Dance help please!?

Question:I have a dance coming up very soon... can anyone give me advice... I have some questions because I've never been to one... I get that you slow dance for slow songs, but what are you supposed to do to fast beat songs and things like that?? For the most part, do you hold onto your partner for that, or are you seperated? Any advice on what to do during those will help me (or any advice in general???) Thanks.

Generally in fast dances the partners are separated so they can each freestyle--move to the music any way they want. Some types of music have set dances you do, like swing, shag, cha-cha or whatever. These require that the partners be in "hold position" for the male to lead. However, both partners have to know how to do these dances. Just feel the beat and rhythmn of the music and move to it. You'll be fine and have a good time.

Addditional: Yes, in slow dancing you stay in your slot. Practice a step touch left, step touch right movement or just sort of sway back and forth with your partner.

Well it's simple! you have to keep ur cool cuz if u let the nerves get to you, your body will stiffin up and u wont be able to dance. Make sure u listen to the music and look around and see how others are dancing, reggae for example, move ur hips side to side with a swagger u can always dance with a partner and also dance with a group of friends! Just be confident because it will show in ur moves! Most of all have fun!!!

I'm in grade seven so the guys usually aren't in to fast dancing but for you just move your hips to the beat of the music! and your body knows what to do just trust your self and dance like no one is watching!
