To start from the beginning. There are many brands of pointe shoes out there, and within, there are so many different styles. I personally LOVE Bloch Sonatas, but it really depends on the foot type. A great shoe for most beginners to wear are Bloch Aspirations. To help determine if they fit, (because an expert should fit you, and they know what they're doing) do some releve's and rises in them. I also like to just stand in them for a while, to see if my toes are straight. (Hint: if you're not comfortable standing, you won't be comfy on pointe.)

Be really careful about how long you've been in ballet, too. You really need strong legs, arches, and ankles to be dancing on the tip of your big toe! Your studio is probably right to ask you to take classes, because it's just that serious. For me it all pays off for Nutcracker. So be really careful because I have honestly seen girls who weren't ready get pretty hurt because they went on too early.

The best of luck, 'cause it's all worth it.

When I was involved with ballet we had to have about 3 yrs. training to strengthen our legs and feet before they allowed us to wear pointe shoes. One class a week is not enough. In order to be strong enough and technically able you need to practice several hours a day several days a week for several years. Dancing on your toes is not easy! There is no one best shoe brand. It depends on your personal strength and foot shape. You have to try them for yourself to see what works best, just as we all do with running shoes.

there is no specific brand of shoes that is good for all beginners. it all depends on what fits your foot best. and it probably would be more conveinant to take all classes at one studio that way you wouldnt be going to multiple studios. and if you went to one studio then the teachers could watch you even when your not on pointe and offer suggestions where as if you only have the teacher for pointe, they dont know what your working on or need to work on.

if any of that makes sense, i hope i helped!

I have been taking pointe for 3 months and i think the best brand of pointe shoes are Gaynor Mindens. They already have an arch so when you go up on pointe it will be easier to break them in. If you capezios or blochs you will need more time to break them in because they don't have an arch. But the Gaynor Mindens are kinda expensive. Mine cost about 95 dollars with out the ribbon and the elastics.

My first pointe shoes were gamba's.
And they were really hard to break in.

Um, has your instructor told you that it's time for you to go on pointe? Don't worry about it until your instructor allows you, he or she knows your personal level of ballet. And when it is time, she will tell you what type of pointe shoes will be best for you.

try gaynor mendin's they have a beginner shoe
i've been wearing his pointes for 4 years now

most dancing school supply stores usually fit u for pointe shoes and what not. and most dancing school require you to have so many years of ballet before entering into pointe and when u enter into pointe u usually must be in a ballet class as well
