Literally, pas de chat means "step of the cat". You will start in a slight plies, in 5th position, the front foot being the same as the direction you wish to travel in. For example 5th with the right foot to go to your right. Your right leg comes up, in a line, the left leg into a tight passe. When it is as high on the thigh as you can go, you saute or jump, and do the same thing with the left leg. both legs should be in the air at the same time. the left ankle crosses over the right and you end in 5th with the left leg in front. Its really important to keep your toes well pointed and your alignment in check.

make sure to not have a hard landing and remember to make it look graceful and light and elegant

good luck

keep your arms soft and make the step look elegant and graceful, dont stiffen up and glide rather than jump
