Position:Home>Dancing> How should I prepare for a ballet recital?

Question:I am going to have a ballet performance, but I'm not sure how to prepare. I have been giddy about this ever since I started ballet, but now I'm terrified I won't be able to be ready for it properly and I won't be able to enjoy it. Help!!

Practice standing in front of the mirror, just standing there and taking deep slow breaths. Ask your Mum/Dad/partner/friends if they would mind helping you to prepare by dancing in front of them.

Also your teacher would not put you forward for the recital, is he/she did not believe you were totally able as this would make his/her ballet teaching classes look rubbish. Remember to yourself "You are the best advertisement in the world for your teachers ballet classes" - this may also help your confidence because she needs you!

Anyway, the very best of luck and I am sure that once you start to dance, you will forget that the audience is even there!

breathe, focus, then relax. Always stay present, but focus your energy on pure motion

practise makes perfect!
ull soon be used to it....
good luck...

for me, having a copy of the music that i play over and over and over and over, whilst dancing the piece either in my head or for real helps me to feel prepared for performance. when it's your time to be onstage, just focus on the emotions of the piece, not your own. good luck, and have fun !

Practise in front of mirrors and whenever possible. Also do plenty of exercise to keep your fitness levels up and strengthen your muscles. Don't forget to do plenty of stretching too but if you're not amazingly flexible go gentle at first and build up so you don't do damage to your body. When you practise your dances don't forget to smile!

-make sure you know the dance (duh)
-make sure you have the proper shoes
-makeup
-hairspray(good for hair and because of its stickiness, can hold the ribbons on your shoes tucked in)
-lots of bobby pins
-mini sewing kit and safetypins (you never know what can go wrong
-extra pair of tights
-preferably an extra pair of shoes
-legwarmers (to keep you legs warm and your tights clean before the show)
-put the song of your dance(s) on your i pod and before the show/in the car listen to it and go through tha dance in your head

Good Luck!!!
