Question:Ballet Help?
I need to know some exersizes I can do to help improve my posture and turn. Does anyone know any exersizes that I could do to help postue and turn out? I don't need normal exersizes you do in lessons, I do those already. Thanks in advance!!

NB: I asked this question before and everyone seemed to think I meant turns like pirouettes, I mean turn OUT the position of you're feet.

Here are some exercises to help...
-plies in first, second, and fith (they really help because when you go down in plie you push you thies out and it helps you turn out)
-frog stretches (lie down on your belly with knees pushing out and you feet together)
-do grand battment to help with you posture (hold you hips, back, and head stong when lifting you leg up in front, side, and back)
-splits (they helps with everything)
-stratles (bend you head to the floor and hold you legs back sttetching you turn out)
-rond de jambe (in the air remember to hold you hip in place)
Do the exercises every day and this will help you with your turn out. Happy Dancing!!!!!

The best thing you can do is really work on stretching your hip flexors and ankles. lots of splits, lots of rond de jambe a'lair, a TON of frog splits. The key is to remember turn out is from the abs and hips, not just knees and feet, so really concentrate on working out those areas, while maintaing good alignment. For your ankles, a theraband is a great investment.

good luck, you'll get it!

Posture:

I dont know of any exercise that help your posture other than simply keep your back tall, your shoulders back and your center muscles in and tight at all times.

Turn Out:

The Frog Stretch:http://gvctemp17.virtualclassroom.org/sp...
While you are doing this stretch push up on your hands...this will help loosen up your hips helping your turn out.

Butterfly stretch:
Is the same thing as the frog stretch except to the front. Push your legs down.
