Position:Home>Dancing> Toning up and losing weight from dancing?

Question:I'm sixteen years old and I'm a dancer. I LOVE to dance. I take dance classes three times a week. I take 45 minutes of Hip-Hop on Monday, then ballet/Hip-hop on Wednesday and Thursday for an hour and a half a day. I also work out in PE every day for about an hour....I haven't really seen any weight loss or much toning.....does anyone know how long it takes to start seeing results? I am definitely getting muscle in my legs, since dancers are all about their legs, but that's all! Anyone have ideas?

It takes at least a month, and you won't see any results if your diet is not in order. So just do the common-sense thing and avoid fast food, junk food, saturated fat, trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, and processed white flour/sugar. Instead, focus on a well-balanced diet with plenty of protein, calcium, fiber, and mono-and-polyunsaturated fat. Combine that with the exercise you're already doing and the pounds will come off.

it'll take you 3 months to see change and you obviously already have seen changes. work in small weights and you'll see more tone.

It's probably your food. Make sure you eat fruits, veggies, and lots of water. Lots of water. Diet sodas are bad for you, you retain water, you end up craving sugar and salt, and they don't rid your body of toxins. Of course, stay away from white foods like rice, pasta and bread and sugar.

try swimming or caridio workout to even yourself out. Don't worry about weight. it is just a number-- that'll be semi-important later. you'll grow and even out. dont worry

I think you should see some results in about a month or two. It sounds like you're getting enough exercise. You should take a look at your diet as well. Maybe now you're eating more? Are you eating fattening junk food like donuts, fries, chips? Are you still drinking soda? Think of those as inedible from now on.
Dancing should be about the core muscles as much as it is about the legs. Maybe you're not paying enough attention to your core when you dance?

Like I've said...start eating healthier food...I KNOW you eat ice cream and pop during lunch.
